Reedy
Safaris would like to invite you to join them on their journey.
Reedy
Safaris
have
decided that sambar hunting is something to be shared and
truly
experienced to its fullest. Pricing is solely dependant on what each
individual hunter is after. Day or multi-day hunts can be arranged.
Common
bookings are for a 3-4 day trip into the Victorian High Country,
contact us direct
via email for further information.
There are trophy fees
on any animals taken on private land, however
public land animals are free.
There are
surcharges on extras such as
caping and carryout.
Nearly all hunts are 1 guide or 2 guides per 1
hunter. Items included
per day
are drinks, meals, snacks and transfers to and from the local area.
Additional
extras
may include fuel to
more remote areas, alcohol, boat
travel, caping animals and carry-outs.
Reedy
Safaris are here
as a tool to help YOU learn more,
so please join us on this
wonderful quest where everyday day is another adventure.

Info Sheet you will receive for preparation
I am sending you a list of items I advise you to bring. We can pick you
up if you give me your address. Usually a full day is a full day. This
is from 1 1/2 hours before sunrise till sunset, or if you have booked a
few days then that is taken into account.
We can arrange a firearm for you to use in a multitude of calibres and
models. They are sighted in and have been carried by previous hunters.
You will however have to arrange a Victorian Game Lic. membership to
SSAA and Ambulance Australia.
The plans of hunting will be defined by the weather conditions, we
could be hunting both public and private land, in both cases you will
get a basic lesson 101 on sambar habits which will include wallows,
bedding, feeding etc…..as well as a “high” chance of
seeing and shooting a SAMBAR.
Transport will be in 4x4 vehicles to and from the hunting destination.
In some cases the vehicles will be located at either end of the planned
journey so the “walk out” is reduced!
What to bring: The usual “stuff”
Remember with all this, sambar live by their EARS and NOSE!
* Good bino’s 8x -10x (10x preferred) on a chest/shoulder
harness (Shoulder harness are 100% better), neck straps are not
preferred.
* A rifle you are competent with out to 300m; we have rifles to
loan
* Camo gear GOOD QUALITY, no blaze to be worn unless instructed.
* The weather will be unpredictable so bring both winter wear and
windproof wear, a fair amount of time might be spent glassing
* The best footwear you can afford for steep slippery terrain.
* A change of clothes for the end of the day inc. comfy shoes.
* Back pack with 2l water in a bag or collapsible water carrier,
bottles are not a “quiet” way to carry water.
* First Aid/Medications you require, inc. Sudafed and Anti
histamines (nothing worse than the sneezes or a runny nose) bandaids
for blisters etc
* Head lamp
* Small basic knife (no need for Rambo)
* Tape for rifle barrel (optional)
* Sense of Humour
What to do: (Please Don’t take this personally we have had issues
in the past.)
* ”Do what the guide says all the time”, i.e. We only
have access to some of these properties if certain deer are shot.
Reedy Safaris will provide snacks and drinks and lunch during the day.
Please advise if there are any foods and drinks that are disliked? Any
further questions can be direct to Chris on :
0425 714243.
I am sure we will all have fun and hope success is had by all.
